House
We are packing up our lives.
All of our memories fit into cheap cardboard boxes.
And bit by bit, we empty the place that held all of our secrets.
These walls deflected our anger,
Soothed our disappointment,
And respected our silence.
This home became our sanctuary.
8 years of life passed through this home.
Oh man….
If these walls could talk.

Lost touch with my soul
I had no where to turn
I had no where to go
Lost sight of my dream,
Thought it would be the end of me
I thought I’d never make it through
I had no hope to hold on to,
I thought I would break
I didn’t know my own strength
And I crashed down, and I tumbled
But I did not crumble
I got through all the pain
I didn’t know my own strength.
Survived my darkest hour
My faith kept me alive
I picked myself back up
Hold my head up high
I was not built to break
I didn’t know my own strength
Found hope in my heart,
I found the light to life
My way out of the dark
Found all that I need
Here inside of me
I thought I’d never find my way
I thought I’d never lift that weight
I thought I would break
I didn’t know my own strength
There were so many times I
Wondered how I’d get through the night
I thought I took all I could take
I didn’t know my own strength.

THE JOB
Everyday she gets in her car
To drive to the place
Where she loses pieces of herself.
-
Everyday she hears the beep
Another peck
Another piece
of her is eaten away.
-
Everyday she tries to shield
She tries to block
She tries to protect
Herself
From the slow death that
Has become her daily routine.
-
Everyday
Every hour
Every minute
With every tick tock
And every lub dub
She is reminded
That these sounds are the sounds
Of her life
Slipping away.
-
Tick tock
Lub dub
Breathe in
Breathe out
Tick tock
Lub dub
Pick - peck
The pieces fall away.

Go ‘way from my window
Leave at your own chosen speed
I’m not the one you want, babe
I’m not the one you need
You say you’re lookin’ for someone
Who’s never weak but always strong
To protect you an’ defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me babev It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe.
Go lightly from the ledge, babe
Go lightly on the ground
I’m not the one you want, babe
I will only let your down
You say you’re lookin’ for someone
Who will promise never to part
Someone to close his eyes for you
Someone to close his heart
Someone who will die for you an’ more
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me babe
It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe.
Go melt back into the night
Everything inside is made of stone
There’s nothing in here moving
An’ anyway I’m not alone
You say you’re looking for someone
Who’ll pick you up each time you fall
To gather flowers constantly
An’ to come each time you call
A lover for you life an’ nothing more
But it ain’t me, babe
No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe
It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe.

You just never knew me."
